The following projects involved updating Antoinette Westphal College of Media Arts & Design marketing collateral to reflect the College’s refreshed visual identity.

I applied the new brand colors, typography, and visual language to create materials that are professional, cohesive, and visually engaging, while balancing playful creativity with a more sophisticated tone for graduate audiences.

About the Project

Vision

The vision for the Westphal viewbook was to reflect the College’s renewed identity: bold, vibrant, and creative, while still professional for a graduate audience.

Westphal’s previous branding leaned too heavily on Drexel’s palette and felt dark and muted, which didn’t fully showcase our students’ creativity. Over a three-year collaboration with an external branding partner, we developed a refreshed visual identity that balances playfulness and sophistication.

Application

Using the new branding guidelines, I updated all graduate materials, including the viewbook, ensuring every layout, color, and type choice supports a cohesive, dynamic, and student-focused experience. The refreshed palette gives students room to shine, while the overall design maintains clarity, professionalism, and alignment with Westphal’s vision as a leading arts college.

Problem

While the Westphal rebrand brought a vibrant, playful palette to the College, I found some of the colors to be too bright or whimsical for a graduate audience. I wanted the media to stay playful and creative, reflecting the freedom of a media arts and design school, while reinventing the graduate color schemes to better suit a mature, professional audience.

Solution

By refining and moderating the brighter tones. like hot pink and neon accents, I created a palette that maintains the brand’s energy and creativity while ensuring sophistication, clarity, and visual cohesion across graduate-focused materials.

This approach allows the graduate audience to engage with the brand confidently, without compromising the fun and creativity central to Westphal’s identity.

Rebrand Projects

These projects bring the Westphal Rebrand to life, embracing its playful, modern energy while keeping designs sophisticated for a graduate-level audience. I worked with the updated colors, fonts, and visual language, all while honoring Drexel’s original identity and maintaining a cohesive, professional tone.
